Do you remember standing in line at the salvage yard?
It's Saturday. It's your day off. You need a part for your Tahoe. There is a couple of guys in front of you, one of which is having a conversation about what happened at the bar last night with the owner. You are stuck because this is the only yard that has your part.
When the guys are finally finished talking, 20 minutes have passed. The salvage yard guy now turns to you. He asks if he can help you. You sigh but give him the part number and all of the facts. He saunters back to the parts racks and wants to pick your part but it's not there. He explains that he has to yank it off a wreck that came in last week.
Another 20 minutes goes by. The guy finally reappears in the office with your part. You pay him, and walk out the door. Now you can go home and begin working on your Tahoe. By the time you get there, two hours have passed.
Wouldn't it be nice if there were a better way? Well, guess what? There is. It's called the Chevy Tahoe Used Part Locator. And you've landed on it.
It is not always desirable or even necessary to buy the part you need new. Think used. To locate a used part, contact one of our used parts dealers using the internet. You can even contact him or her by email and provide a complete description of the part you want. The dealer will respond and let you know if they have it, when you can pick it up (or when they can ship it and how much it will cost), and the price. Locating used and rebuilt parts this way is much easier. Good parts to buy used include body parts like hoods and fenders, a/c compressors, headlight assemblies -- even seats and dashboards.
As you know, there are many parts - alternators, a/c compressors, power steering pumps - that can be rebuilt. They look almost new and will give you years of great service.
Buying rebuilt parts also saves on the environment. So much of the raw material used to make a part can be reused. Going with a rebuilt unit saves all of us energy because a lot less energy is be consumed if you put a part back in service.
Alternators, for example, when they are rebuilt, use the outer housing and brackets from the old unit. The rebuilder replaces the bearings, windings, and brushes and any other components that have worn out. He or she then installs them into the housing and you have a part that will give you years of reliable service.
The same is true with transmissions. The rebuilder will install new bands, valves, bearings, and seals into the old housing. You end up with a transmission that could very well be better than your original. Why? Well, the rebuilder if he is smart will use better materials than the original to rebuild the unit.
You can start your search right on this page. Enter the Chevy Tahoe year, make, and model. Select type of part (used or remanufactured), the category (for example, electrical), name (example, headlight assembly), and quantity. Press enter. Our search engines will then begin to look the world over for your Chevy Tahoe part. Beats hanging out at the junkyard, do you agree?
Thanks for shopping. We will see you again soon.
